QCC Opposes Gov. Hochul's zoning takeover proposal
At a zoom conference by Congressman Tom Suozzi on January 27, 2022, QCC President Kevin Forrestal read the following statement in opposition to the governor's State of The State proposal to eliminate single family zoning state-wide:
"My name is Kevin Forrestal and I am the President of the Queens Civic Congress, representing 80 + civic associations across Queens County. Last week, our organization took a vote - which was unanimous - to oppose this horrific proposed legislation. Not only will it destroy the way of life for millions of law-abiding citizens across NY State, but the legislation rewards speculators, developers and longstanding illegal behavior that has put people's lives at risk. Governor Hochul must withdraw this proposal immediately and remove it from the state budget process. "
